Gumi city's robot civil servant found broken at foot of stairs

Gumi City Council in South Korea said its first administrative robot, made by Bear Robotics and in service since August 2023, was found defunct after apparently falling down a staircase. It had delivered documents, promoted the city and given information to residents, and could call lifts to change floors. Witnesses said it had been circling before the fall, and the maker was to analyse the pieces. The widely shared story showed how readily the public projects human feelings onto robots in public-facing roles.
