Embodied publishes early evidence for Moxie's social skills framework

A preprint described the therapeutic approach behind Moxie and a small six-week trial with children.

Researchers at Embodied posted a paper setting out the STAR Framework, the approach Moxie uses to help children aged five to ten with developmental and behavioural conditions practise social and emotional skills. It draws on established methods including naturalistic applied behaviour analysis, graded cueing and cognitive behavioural therapy, and uses the robot's camera and microphone to track measures such as eye contact and language use. In a preliminary study of 12 children, a six-week intervention produced a significant improvement, though the authors stressed the evidence was early. It is a rare case of a consumer social robot launching alongside published outcome data.
